OUR REHABILITATION PROGRAMMES

CARDIAC REHABILITATION PROGRAMME

 

This programme is offered to patients following heart attacks, heart surgery and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

 

The aims are to slower the progression of the disease and reduce risk of future heart problems via supervised exercises, smoking cessation and education. Incorporated in the service is the Cardiac Fitness Program, which aim to reduce/control the risk factors before the onset of heart disease through lifestyle modifications and patient education.

 

PAEDIATRIC REHABILITATION PROGRAMME

 

This programme is offered to patients following developmental delay, congenital defect and insult eg: cerebral palsy, spina bifida, brain injury.

 

The aims are to promote neuroplasticity via neurodevelopmental therapy and to maximize potential to participate in activities at home, school and community.

 

SPINAL INJURY REHABILITATION PROGRAMME

 

This is offered to patients following injury to the spinal cord as a result of trauma or illness eg: infection, tumor.

 

The aims are to address the complex medical issues eg: bladder, bowel, pain and to promote independence and reintegration into community. Recovery optimisation is also a focus in the programme.

AMPUTEE REHABILITATION PROGRAMME

 

This programme is offered to patients following amputation of upper or lower limbs due to congenital loss, illness or trauma.

 

The aims are to address proper wound and stump management, optimizing pain control as well as to increase strength and endurance for prosthetic restoration. Incorporated into the service is Diabetic Foot Care.

 

NEUROREHABILITATION PROGRAMME

 

This programme offers rehabilitation to patients following acquired brain/nerve injury as a result of illness eg: stroke, multiple sclerosis, Guillain–Barré syndrome or trauma following road traffic accidents/falls. The programme addresses medical issues and rehabilitation of individuals with cognitive and physical impairment.

 

The aims are to optimize independence and/or reduce dependency to help patients reach their highest level of function in their home, community, work place and leisure activities. 

 

MUSCULOSKELETAL REHABILITATION PROGRAMME

 

This is offered to patients with muscle or joint related problems which has been seen by the Orthopedic Surgeon eg: non red flag back pain, osteoarthritis and post-operative orthopedic intervention eg: following fracture.

 

The aims are to optimize pain control, strengthening and education to enable patients to participate in their usual activities prior to the illness.
